Connect Monesto to Claude or ChatGPT

It takes about two minutes. Keep your assistant open in another tab or in its desktop app, then follow the steps below.

Fastest: paste this into your assistant

Connect me to Monesto, my shared expense ledger. Its MCP server is https://mcp.monesto.me/mcp (remote, OAuth sign-in). If you can add MCP servers yourself, add it as "monesto" and start the sign-in. If you can't, walk me through adding it as a custom connector in this app, using https://monesto.me/ai/connect. In Codex or the ChatGPT desktop app, run `codex mcp add monesto --url https://mcp.monesto.me/mcp` and then `codex mcp login monesto`; in Claude Code, run `claude mcp add --transport http monesto https://mcp.monesto.me/mcp` and then `/mcp`. If sign-in fails with "dynamic client registration not supported", the app is out of date: tell me to update it, then try again. Once it's connected, ask Monesto who owes me.

A Monesto page opens. Choose Telegram, email, Apple or Google. If you’re new, your account is created here.
Check the address bar shows mcp.monesto.me
Press Allow
You’re back in your assistant. Try one of the prompts below.

Open PluginsAddAdd custom MCP server and fill in:

Troubleshooting

“Not included in this account’s plan”

Some answers need Monesto Premium. Everything else keeps working.

The assistant asks me to reconnect

The connection was removed or has expired. Follow the steps above to connect again.

I signed in with the wrong account

Disconnect, then connect again and choose the other sign-in method.

My workspace doesn’t let me add connectors

On Claude Team or Enterprise and ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, an admin has to add Monesto for the workspace first.
